Daaruit blijkt de voornaam en de geboortedatum en sterfdatum van Manoury.
Een fragment (met toestemming van auteur) uit het Italiaanse magazine wat door Sergej in het Engels is vertaald:

Annali di storia e civiltà del gioco»26, 2020, p. 69-81.coedition Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche-Viella Thierry Depaulis, “Manoury, les dames «à la polonoise» et les cafés parisiens, deuxième moitié du XVIIIesiècle.” The fragment: “…Nous savons par des sources littéraires, notamment Restif de La Bretonne, qu’à Manoury avait succédé un certain Robert. Ainsi, dans Les nuits de Paris, tome 8, Restif écrit: «En quittant cette maison, j’alai au caffé Robert, autrefois Manouri…». Il restait… à vérifier que Pierre Guillaume Robert, «marchand limonadier», quai de l’École, était bien ce successeur.
Les documents consultés conferment pleinement cette conjecture, et on retrouve même Manoury témoin du contrat de mariage de Robert en 1787. Son prénom est donné: Pierre Manoury, «ancien limonadier»… Il est aussi mentionné dans l’inventaire…, comme résidant, vers 1800, à Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Il fut dès lors facile de savoir s’il était décédé dans cette ville... La réponse fut fournie par l’état-civil numérisé de Saint-Germain-en-Laye…, non seulement son décès est bien enregistré là, mais l’acte indique le lieu et la date de sa naissance:
«N° 77/Pierre Manoury/85 ans 10 mois. Du vingt sept février mil huit cent quatorze, heure de midi, acte de décès de Pierre Manoury, Bourgeois, né à Pontaudemer [Pont-Audemer], department de l’Eure, le dix avril mil sept cent vingt huit, âgé de quatre vingt cinq ans et dix mois, célibataire, décédé hier à quatre heures et demi du soir à son domicile rue du Vieil abreuvoir n° 3…»”
The English translation of this fragment (by S.Yushkevitch) is the following: “…We know from literary sources, notably Restif de La Bretonne, that at Manoury had succeeded a certain Robert. Thus, in The nights of Paris, volume 8, Restif writes: "When I left this house, I went to Caffé Robert, formerly Manouri". It remained… to verify that Pierre Guillaume Robert, "lemonade merchant", quai de l'Ecole, was indeed this successor.
The documents consulted confirm fully this conjecture, and we even find Manoury witness to Robert's marriage contract in 1787. His first name is given: Pierre Manoury, "former lemonade"… He is also mentioned in the inventory…, as a resident, around 1800, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. It was therefore easy to find out whether he had died in this town…
The answer was provided by the digitized civil register of Saint-Germain-en-Laye…, not only is his death recorded there, but the act indicates the place and date of his birth:
“N ° 77 / Pierre Manoury / 85 years 10 months. From the twenty-seventh February one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, midday, death certificate of Pierre Manoury, Bourgeois, born in Pontaudemer [Pont-Audemer], department of Eure, on April ten, one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight, aged eighty five years and ten months, single, died yesterday at half past four in the evening at his home rue du Vieil abreuvoir n ° 3…” |
