Graphic analysis "Horizon":
15-06-2009 PETER RAMSUNDAR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO:
Good day everyone, will the deadlock be broken today, good luck to both players.
 15-06-2009 Vladimir (Moscow):
Will be big live-camera today? (link was under diagram)
 15-06-2009  Paul van de Veen:
There is a small delay because of a missing file. The system is now in remote control by Marcel Kosters and he will replace the missing file. We expect to start within a few minutes.
 15-06-2009 PETER ( T+ T ):
Can someone answer where is the big live camera.
 15-06-2009 T:
As was said yesterday, there is no "big camera" in this playing room. But the organizers will try to have it for last two days of the match.
 15-06-2009  Marcel Kosters:
The EBS software works with a tournament database from which tournament info such as
players names round number etc are loaded.
This file had been accidentily deleted or relocated.
Same principle as in a program such as Word: when you don't have a doc file you will not read anything interesting in Word. Because of remote login procedure it took a couple of minutes. Sorry for the delay.

 15-06-2009 PETER:
Thank you for the update,
 15-06-2009 -huub:

Tsjizjow - Georgiev 2-0 Russian championship 2009 was 12... 6-11. Sijbrands already prophecied that this opening would be played in this match.
Schwarzman is taking a little nap.
 15-06-2009 Lex Mulder:
We might see a winner tonight. On another note: is the board S. and G. are using an 'electronic one', and if so, would it mean that rapid and blitz games could be followed live online(?), in case of course the match would have to be decided in this way.
 15-06-2009 esquire:
I've got clear "Horizon-area". Do you know, why it could be so?
 15-06-2009 Gudelj:
Schwarzman has the initiative again in this match, will he win today?
 15-06-2009 Rein:
Excuse me Gudelj. I don't see any winning plans for Schwarzman at this moment.
 15-06-2009  Marcel Kosters:
Hi Huub EBS is running smoothly.

Horizon - based in Emmen with developer Feike Boomstra - downloads the position every few seconds and evaluates it. Then this evaluation is written to a png file and uploaded every few seconds to the live server. We can see the - normally - entertaining result below the live applet.

Today the broadcast started a couple of minutes after 12.00 and this probably prevented Horizon from starting the analysis (as Feike is not at home).

Reading this message you directly understand that a lot of the technology and presentation for this match (except EBS and Dambo Lite developped by you and Wieger Wesselink) are in bèta version.

I have to leave now (curious about the game when I return) but before that I want the spectators to know the names of all the people involved to create and further develop this live page: Geb Kos (web(cam)master of WC match, and NK2008), Piet Bouma (toernooibase, live comments) Geb and Piet together built this page, Huub van de Wetering and Wieger Wesselink designed and produced the dambo applet and the EBS reconstruction and broadcasting software, DGT Projects produced the electronic boards and created the BoCo software - still in development - for communication between the boards and EBS and last but of course not least Paul van de Veen who together with DGT Projects created the electronic draughtsboards, wrote the first broadcasting software used in Hardenberg 2007 and who is since then continuously involved with the further development of the live draughts technology.
On the photo page of this website one can see images from the explication room where the game is projected together with the tournament logo. This is thanks to software written by Paul van de Veen.

Never before has a draughts event been covered as live as this WC match and no doubt the development will continue.

As a spectator who tries to watch (part of) the games every day and enjoys them very much I say thank you very much Geb, Piet, Feike, Huub, Wieger, Paul and DGT Projects. Incredible what has been achieved in just two years mostly on a voluntary basis and everything in cooperation between draughts friends / volunteers. Again thank you very much.

 15-06-2009 Dieudonn? Ningpah (CMR):
Schwartzman loves to be in attack and always vary his strategy. But in this particular game, he would have to do some defending as well. Thanks to Georgiev who has finally decided to attack !
 15-06-2009 Belfastchild:
What happened here? I thought Schwarzman had played 24. 48-42, but it doesn't show that anymore, and now shows the last move was 23. ... 2x11
 15-06-2009 groeneveld:
@ belfastchild 24 48-42  19-23 25 42-38 14-19 are played
 15-06-2009  Jan van den Hooff:
hello I'm back again, some study and 37-31 and back via 31-27 otherwise?? - Jan
 15-06-2009 Belfastchild:
Thanks Groeneveld, It's correct here again, it's just that the applet had gone back a move which I don't understand
@Jan, After 26. 37-31 20-25 31-27 22x31 26x37 25-30 etc. I think a draw will be a fact.
 15-06-2009 groeneveld:
26 ) 50-44 is played
 15-06-2009  Jan van den Hooff:
26/ 19-24  27. 48-42 23-28 28. 32x23 20-25 29. 29x20 18x40 30. 20-14 9x20 31. 39-34 40x29 32. 33x15 is not a solution equal to a worldchampion
 15-06-2009  Christian van der Schaaf:
Schwarzman's 26. 50-44 surprises me a litle bit. Maybe he likes 47 more then 50, I don't know. But if he had played 26. 47-42 on 9-14 would have been prohibited.
 15-06-2009  Jan van den Hooff:
26. 47-42 9-14 27. 29-24 20x40 28. 33-29 23x34 29. 39x30 35x24 30. 32-28 22x33 38x9 would have been very nice/ georgiev is waiting for 32-28. too simple according my computer = negative
 15-06-2009 Belfastchild:
@Christian, although 9-14 would be prohibited after 26. 47-42, I think 19-24 would have been a good opportunity, and I don't have the feeling that there is a big advantage of not allowing 9-14 then
 15-06-2009  Jan van den Hooff:
30. 19-23 31. 26-21 38-32! but every effort will be extinguished and so: till to-morrow - Jan
 15-06-2009 krijn ter braake:
Georgiev's time shortage. Should he play 30: 19-23 in order to prevent 31:38-32? The piece on 35 could become weak.
 15-06-2009 Jenia:
Georgiev not leave for himself time
for end of the game
 15-06-2009 Arjo:
Hi all, I am originally a chessplayer, but i also like draughts. Im a volunteer in a nursing home and there is a man who likes to play a game of draughts. But he was champion of his draughtsclub in his younger years and has absolutely no troubles beating me over and over again. Id like to give him a better game. Can anyone help me with a site or so with basic hints/tips and strategies? Many thanks in advance
 15-06-2009 Jenia:
bad move for Georgiev
he is looking for a draw
but may be too late
 15-06-2009 Daan van Os:
Lijkt mij dat 31. 34-30 en 32. 30-25 erg prettig is voor Schwartzman
 15-06-2009 Belfastchild:
@Arjo, if you can understand Dutch, try http://www.damz.nl. This is aimed at children, but has a lot of tips and trics that also less experienced adults can learn from.
 15-06-2009 krijn ter braak:
31: 34-30 or 38-32 which one will win? 38-32 gives the exchange with 22-28, but still looks good for white. With 34-30 Schwarzman can force the position
 15-06-2009 Arjo:
@Belfastchild: Ik ben nederlands ;-) dank voor de hulp
 15-06-2009 Belfastchild:
@Daan: 31. 34-30 14-19 30-25 09-14 38-32 35-40 44x35 22-28 with not much advantage for white
 15-06-2009  Tjalling:
@ Arjo,

Click on this link. You can download A Course in Draughts for free here.
A pity that this is very hard to find at the official FMJD website...

 15-06-2009  Christian van der Schaaf:
Indeed why not 30. .... 19-23 ? Now 34-30 is bad, but now an exchange.
 15-06-2009 Jenia :
34 30 adn 3025 not too good
beacuse
9-14
38032 3540
44x25 22-28 with advantage
 15-06-2009 Arjo:
@Tjalling: Im more looking for some basic tips and trics. Don't like to study very hard, but just want to know some basic strategies to make our games last longer.
 15-06-2009  Tjalling:
In that case, Arjo.

Special page DamZ!: DamZ
 15-06-2009 groeneveld:
do you know the Haarlemmer move also called Green-move??
 15-06-2009 dammer:
This looks like a draw. Does this position still contain any excitement?
 15-06-2009  Tjalling:
Georgiev taking the advantage. he breaks through first 8-12 and 24-29x29 but white can defend it easily. 9 - 9 ...
 15-06-2009  Gerben van Steenbergen:
this is 1-1 4439!
 15-06-2009 Jenia:
YEP
AGAIN
 15-06-2009  Piet Bouma:
@Tjalling. Please don't use long urls in your posting.
This is seen as one word, and then the comment room sometimes can't be viewed correctly (and a scrollbar below).
There is in the input-range, a special function for links. Easy to use. I have now changed your posting a little.
 15-06-2009 chian xian zung:
 16-06-2009  John Folkers:
De volgende opmerking gaf flits: 38. 21-17 (-50) beter is 28-22 19-23 41-36 23-29 34x23 18x29 21-17 12x21 27x16 29-34 32-28 34-40 16-11 06x17 22x11 40-45 (-5)
